A variable speed 12 Amp motor lets you select from an infinite variety of speeds between 112 mph and 235 mph. This means that you can use low speeds to clear off hard surfaces and clean up tight areas without making a mess and without sacrificing the blower's high-speed functionality. Air Speed and Air Volume to Get Yard Jobs Done Unlike some manufacturers, who simply reduce the size of their blower nozzles to achieve higher air speed ratings without increasing the practical value of their tools, Toro gives this blower vac the ability to balance between air speed (measured in mph) and air volume (measured in cfm) to ensure maximum power and performance. This Ultra blower vac offers air speeds up to 235 mph and air volume up to 255 cfm, allowing you to move a substantial volume of leaves and debris with ease. 3-in-1 Versatility Makes Managing Tasks Easy A convenient quick-release latch lets you convert your blower into a vacuum in seconds without any tools, while a metal impeller makes it easy to mulch debris. The magnesium serrated metal blades on the impeller shred leaves and other unwanted debris into a fine mulch that you can use around your lawn and garden, saving money and recycling important nutrients. It also makes it easy to dispose of unwanted yard waste, since the impeller can reduce 16 bags? worth of leaves to one bag. Clean and Efficient with Electric Power Compared with gas blowers, electric blowers are quieter and require less maintenance. They start up instantly without requiring you to master a finicky pull cord. There's no messy gas-oil mixture to worry about, and you don't have to contend with noxious fumes to get a job done. This high-powered blower also weighs in at a very manageable 7.5 pounds, making it easy on your back. This blower/vac is backed by a full two-year warranty. What's in the Box Power unit, blower tubes, vac tubes, vac bag, and operators manual.

Tools and Hardware Reviews of Toro 51599 Ultra 12 amp Variable-Speed Electric Blower/Vacuum with Metal ImpellerCustomer Review: Seems great Summary: 5 Stars
I have a gardener who uses the gas kind of blower and i always hate it if i'm home when he does it, the fumes come into the house. I wanted to get an electric one for him to use instead so i read reviews and decided on this one. I might have gotten a cordless one if it was just for the gardener but i will want to use it myself sometimes and the cordless weed trimmer i had was pretty heavy with the battery attached and from the reviews i thought this model sounded the best for my needs.
It was easy to use out of the box. I've never owned or used a leaf blower before in my life. It's not rocket science, but from reading reviews, i thought variable speed control sounded useful and i did like using it with this blower, i appreciated having it. It was easy to assemble and easy to switch to the vacuum although i do have a hard time unclipping the catches, i have to press really really hard with my thumb, it's hard, it's hard to get leverage to do it, the leaf blower is heavy and awkward, for me, while having difficulty with the catches. It might be because i'm not that familiar with how to do it yet. Having heard that the older models required use of a screw driver to take apart the converter, i appreciate the one with the catches that are hard for me, i'd rather deal with that.
As other reviewers said, the vacuum is less easy to use than the blower. I don't know if there are easier to use leaf vacs. It doesn't suck as powerfully as i thought it would, it takes longer to get it to suck up all the leaves than i would like it to. But it did do the job. I had a really disgusting leaf job, there were a couple of large piles of leaves behind my detached garage which is on an alley, the gardener doesn't go out there. The leaves look messy and over time they keep accumulating, from the trees above that area. Once i tried sweeping them up but it took a long time to just get some of it done, i never finished it. Too hard. And people who hang out in the alley throw garbage there too so mixed in with the leaves are many different kinds of food wrappers and plastic fast food cups and things. And small rocks and crumbled concrete. And people walk their dogs around there, so there's dog poo. :-(
So, i got the leaf blower out there right away and first blew the leaves and debris out of my garage which was nice, it was so easy and fast, i was amazed. I didn't think it would be that easy, it really gets into cracks and crevices and makes dust and dirt and bits of leaves and debris disappear. In couple of minutes, the garage looked better than it ever had.
Then I converted it to the vacuum and turned to those big leave/garbage piles. I did my best throughout the process to pick out the bigger pieces of paper and cardboard and plastic, anything i was able to easily see, and of course, the dog poo, i had to get that out of there, and watch really carefully for it. I was making progress, though it was slower than i would've liked. Then there was suddenly this loud high pitched kind of scream that came from the vac opening and it stopped working. I figured i must've gotten something hard, a rock probably, and now it was probably broken, but maybe i could pull out whatever it was. I opened it up and there was a large piece of cardboard covering the opening, that's all it was. I took it out and then did the rest of the job, again, slow, but i got through most of it, very happy at how much better things looked. It took a couple of hours though. But those piles were big. I will keep up with it now and it shouldn't be a time consuming thing.
I've only had it a week and used it twice so i can't review how well it holds up, but i will say it handled some pretty raunchy stuff in those leaf piles, small pieces of plastic, lots of crumbled concrete, and cardboard and probably an occasional screw or paper clip because i found some of those while i was working but i figured i might not have caught all of them, they would be easy to miss. I'm glad i read the reviews where people emphasized the superiority of having metal blades.
